I was helping my Friend Mike, From MBS Photography shoot a model (Rachel Dashae) this past weekend. He’s been kind enough to take the time and give me a few pointers on lighting, as I’ve gone out of my way to assist him on shoots.
We had about 30 minutes before she was finished, so I took a few shots of my own, including this one, which was one of my favorites. I prefer photos that are less glamorous, and are more on the thought provoking side.
This particular shot, for me, keeps the viewer wondering about what might be going on, as well as leads people to wonder about her, who she is, and what she is about. I like to make the viewer think, or imagine, or just sit and ponder.
It was a great experience for all of us, as Rachel is a very experienced, very professional model who knows just what to do, at just the right time.

Well, once again, I’ve gone to NYC to visit with friends. These are some of my friends from Flickr. Had it not been for that very site, I would likely not have crossed paths with such wonderful people. We’re all from different parts of the country, from different backgrounds, but we all have the love of photography in common, and it seems like that’s enough to get a good friendship going. We shoot various themes, and all have various focuses in our photography, but that doesn’t really matter. We all love to get together and go out and photograph whatever.
This trip, we ended up bar hopping in Brooklyn, and wandering around Coney Island. We even hit the MET, and ventured into lower Manhattan for a few hours. All in all, it was a great trip.
Were all getting together in DC in March, for our second Annual photo walk around the nations capital. I can hardly wait.

We’ve had our own little controversy here recently with a local strip club owner unveiling this banner on the side of his business. People are screaming about it promoting hatred, racism, and who knows what else.
Like it or not, it is free speech.
I can’t think of a single president that hasn’t been mocked, made fun of, or become the butt of someone’s joke.
I went out to shoot last night with a friend of mine, Mike, From MBS Photography. He is the official photographer for the Rivercity Roller Girls. What a blast this is. While I don’t typically shoot things like this, I must say, it was great fun. The River City Roller Girls are a Flat track Roller Derby Team from Richmond Virginia, and they have just recently joined the WFTDA, so they are all kinds of official now.
If you’re ever looking for something to do on a Sunday night, this is it.

I spent the day in and around Washington DC yesterday with a good friend of mine. We managed to Hit the National Cathedral, Iwa Jima Memorial, and one of my favorite places, Arlington National Cemetery.
What a sobering place this is to visit. William Henry Coe is but one of many of the bravest men .this great country has known.
Like many, he survived the war itself, having to carry the burden of his heroic deeds with him to the grave much later.
To all the men and women serving in the armed forces, we salute you.

It’s not a new shot. I’ve somehow drifted away from what I use to shoot for fun. It seems like an eternity ago, even though it’s only been a year. Perhaps I will take a few days, and go back and shoot what I did before, If only for a little while
